Derelict mill fire in Oswaldtwistle

Update at 19:55 – We have four fire engines dealing with a fire at a derelict mill on Stone Bridge Lane, Oswaldtwistle at the moment. If you can see or smell the smoke from the incident, please keep windows and doors shut.

Fire crews were called at 18:08 this evening. Firefighters are using three jets and the Stinger from Blackburn fire station is now at the scene working to bring the fire under control.

No injuries have been reported.

Update at 22:00 – Firefighters remain at the scene of the fire in Oswaldtwistle. We are working with Lancashire Police, Environment Agency and Hyndburn Council. Local road closures are in place and people near to the incident are still advised to close windows and doors.

Update at 01:00 – The fire has been brought under control and residents are no longer being asked to keep windows and doors shut.

Update at 10:00 – Two fire engines are still at the scene this morning where firefighters are conintuing to damp down. A multi-agency meeeting is taking place this morning where considerations around the security of the site and fire investigation will be discussed.
