At 2:28am on 6 October 2026, two fire engines from Ormskirk and Tarleton attended a fire involving a narrowboat at St Mary’s Marina, Rufford. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used one hose reel, a dry powder extinguisher and one ventilation unit to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour.
