At 12:50 on 29 May 2026, three fire engines from Bispham, South Shore and St Annes responded to a building fire on Preston New Road, Westby with Plumptons. The fire was out on arrival but involved an oven inside a caravan. Fire crews used a gas monitor and a positive pressure ventilation fan to clear the property of smoke. Fire crews were on scene for thirty minutes.
