At 12:24 on 1 July 2025, three fire engines from Bamber Bridge, Chorley and Leyland and the hazardous materials unit from Burnley attended to an incident on Smithy Brow, Wrightington. The fire was involving one caravan which had spread to a commercial building. Fire crews used one hose reel and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire and were in attendance for approximately two hours.
