At 22:00 on the 18th February 2026, two fire engines from Chorley and Bamber Bridge attended a chimney fire on Town Lane, Whittle-le-Woods. Firefighters used a triple extension ladder, chimney rods, a thermal imaging camera, a nimble nozzle and small tools to extinguish the fire. Crews were in attendance for four hours.
