At 21:33 on 20th January 2026, four fire engines from Preston and Blackburn attended an commercial building fire on Smithy Road, Balderstone. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used one hose reel, a gas monitor, and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. Crews remained on scene for two hours.
