At 02:28 on Thursday 14th August 2025, four fire engines from Nelson and Colne fire station along with the aerial ladder platform from Hynburn fire station attended a commercial building fire on Waterford street, Nelson. Fire service personnel used six breathing apparatus, two hose reel jets and one forty five millimetre jet to extinguish the fire and two positive pressure ventilations fans to clear the smoke. Crews were engaged for three hours.
