At 16:40 on Tuesday 14 July 2026, three fire engines from Burnley, Nelson and Colne attended reports of smoke at a commercial building on Brook Street, Nelson. Firefighters used two breathing apparatus, one hose reel and one gas monitor while investigating the cause of the smoke. Crews carried out checks, ensured the area was safe and remained in attendance for approximately one hour and fifteen minutes
