At 13:54 on 18 January 2026, two fire engines from Burnley attended a building fire on Boston Street, Nelson. This was a small fire on the ground floor of a derelict property. Fire crews extinguished the fire using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel, one positive pressure ventilation fan, and a triple extension ladder. Fire crews were in attendance for approximately two hours.
