At 19:34 on September 17, 2025, five fire engines and special appliances from Rawtenstall, Hyndburn, Haslingden, Bacup, and Ramsbottom (from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service) attended a derelict building fire on Hew Hall Hey Road, Rawtenstall. Firefighters wore breathing apparatus and used two hose reels, one hose reel jet, and a ventilation unit to extinguish the fire. Crews remained at the scene for approximately two and a half hours.
