At 17:25 hours on Monday 23rd February 2026, three fire engines from Hyndburn and Blackburn attended Nutter Road, Accrington. The fire involved a fireplace on the ground floor of a domestic dwelling. Crews used two breathing apparatus, one hosereel, one positive pressure ventilation fan and a thermal imaging camera to extinguish the fire. One casualty suffered smoke inhalation and was checked by ambulance crews in attendance. Crews were in attendance for approximately one hour and ten minutes.
