At 12:59 hours on 22nd July 2025, five fire engines and several specialist appliances including the Urban Search and Rescue and Hazard Materials Unit from Burnley attended a road traffic collision involving a heavy goods vehicle on Whalley New Road, Blackburn. On arrival, fire service personnel dealt with an over turned articulated lorry and a large diesel spillage using an environmental grab pack and hazardous materials unit. Lancashire Police and several other agencies were also in attendance. Fire service crews remained on the scene for approximately two hours.
