At 21:30 on the 27th August 2026, two fire engines from Chorley and Horwich (from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service) attended a road traffic collision on Bolton Road, Anderton. Firefighters extricated one casualty using cutters, spreaders, a hearth kit and lighting and worked to make the scene safe. Crews were on scene for one hour.
