At 1:20am on the 10th July 2026, three fire engines from Bamber Bridge and Chorley attended a road traffic collision on the M61 motorway in Chorley. One casualty was released from the vehicle by fire service personnel and handed into the care of North West Ambulance Service whilst firefighters worked to make the scene safe. Crews were in attendance for approximately 90 minutes.
