At 15:17 hours on 28th January 2026, four fire engines from Garstang, Fulwood, Penwortham and Preston fire stations attended a road traffic collision involving one car on the M6 motorway between junctions 32 and 33. Firefighters extricated one casualty using Holmatro equipment and handed them over into the care of North West Ambulance Service. Fire crews were in attendance for approximately one hour.
