At 16:21 on 30 September 2025, two fire engines from Fulwood and Penwortham attended Blackpool Road, Preston. Firefighters extinguished a fire involving a lithium battery and van on the roadway using one hose reel jet, one breathing apparatus, trauma pack and oxygen therapy. One casualty suffering from burns received oxygen therapy from crews and was then passed in to the care of North West Ambulance Service. Crews are still on scene.
