At 14:35 on 5th December 2025, two fire engines from Leyland and Skelmersdale attended a vehicle fire on the M6 south between junction twenty-eight and Charnock Richard services. Crews used one hose reel and two breathing apparatus to extinguish the fire. Crews were on scene for approximately forty minutes.
