About 200 square metres of moorland is on fire at a location about half-a-mile from the nearest track. Updates will follow when available.

At 1.55pm additional resources of two fire engines and crews (Earby and Padiham) have been called in. Approximately one square mile of moorland is on fire.

At 2.23pm the message came in ‘fire surrounded’ meaning that it’s steadily being brought under control.

At 2.41pm firefighting resources were reduced to four fire engines and crews and the Command Support Unit and support engine returned to station. The fire is not yet out but the incident response is drawing to a close.

At 4.30pm the remaining fire crew on the scene, from Leyland, were completing final checks to ensure all residues of fire had been extinguished. Later the LFRS drone will fly over, using its thermal imaging camera to double-check for smouldering embers.
