Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service were graded ‘Outstanding’ by His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire and Rescue Services in our most recent inspection. New opportunities are now available for outstanding professionals to join our Protection Team undertaking the role of Business Safety Advisor, in Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service

In the role of Business Safety Advisor, you will be required to undertake activities to reduce the impact of false alarms, liaise with other regulatory and planning authorities, and carry out audits of premises. Business Safety Advisors are required to maintain operational competence and contribute to the completion of operational plans and site-specific risk information (SSRIs) for simple premises, where doing so furthers the protection of public and responders.

The role of Business Safety Advisor is open to existing competent Wholetime Firefighters and Crew Managers that have a minimum Maths and English Language GCSE Grade A-C (9-4) or equivalent.

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who care deeply about Fire Safety and protecting the people of Lancashire and understand the current and forthcoming regulatory frameworks.

We offer comprehensive development, a professional promotion route within Fire Safety, and a flexi-time scheme is in operation.

Please note this is a functional promotion ringfenced pathway – Further to successful appointment within Fire Safety and wanting to transfer into an operational role, Watch and Crew Managers are required to complete two years in current role (within Fire Safety) and apply via the Service’s Supervisory Manager Talent Gateway process which includes successfully completing the operational assessment ‘Safe to Command/ICL1’ and a Fit to Ride process. Alternatively, they can revert to operations in their substantive rank.
