Two fire crews from Blackpool were called to reports of a fire at a house on Grosvenor Street in Blackpool. Crews found a well developed fire on the ground floor of the property. An additional three fire engines were called to assist with the incident. Firefighters are working to bring the fire under control using breathing apparatus and two hose reels. Crews are currently still in attendance and the Police have put a road closure in place. Anyone travelling in the vicinity is advised to avoid the area.
UPDATE: 17:15hrs
Firefighters have conducted a thorough search of the property to confirm all persons are accounted for. Unfortunately a number of cats have been found deceased and firefighters administered oxygen therapy to one cat who was found alive. The number of fire engines has been reduced to three. Firefighting operations are still continuing.
Update 20:20hrs
The number of fire engines at the scene was further reduced to one fire engine whilst the incident was handed over. Firefighters were in attendance a total of five hours and thirty minutes.
