At 12:28 on Saturday 22nd August 2026, five fire engines from Chorley, Nelson, Darwen, Clitheroe and Earby, as well as the Search and Rescue Team from Bamber Bridge, attended a large animal rescue on Paa Lane, Paythorne. One horse was extricated using a spreader board and telehandler. Crews were detained for approximately one hour and twenty minutes.
