At 09:40 on 17 September 2026, several fire engines from Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service, as well as the water bowser from Leyland, responded to reports of a fire on Sandholm Lane, Barnacre-with-Bonds. The fire involved a pile of hay and was extinguished by firefighters using one hose reel jet and three breathing apparatus. A triple extension ladder was also used on scene. Crews remain in attendance.
