10 fire engines have been called to a fire involving a commercial building on Sett End Road West, Blackburn, Firefighters are currently trying to extinguish the fire and prevent the fire from spreading to neighbouring buildings. Residents who can see or smell smoke are asked to close windows and doors and stay away from the scene.

Ten fire engines, two aerial ladder platforms, a water tower, a firefighting robot, high volume pump and drone are in attendance and trying to extinguish the fire.
Firefighters are working hard to extinguish the fire and stop it spreading to a nearby building on the site.
The fire involves plastics and there is a significant smoke plume affecting the local area. Local residents and business are encouraged to keep windows and doors closed.

Firefighting has reduced the size of the fire and amount of smoke, and the number of fire engines has been reduced to six. The special appliances remain at the incident.
Please keep windows and doors closed if you are nearby to avoid the smoke, and avoid the area if you can.
Roads are open however Haslingden Road is reduced to one lane only. Drivers in the area should also keep their windows closed.
Access remains to businesses on the business park however there is some disruption from emergency operations. Local schools and Royal Blackburn Teaching Hospital remain open.
There is a multi-agency response to this incident and partners are working together to bring it to an end as soon as possible.

This incident has been reduced to four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform. The smoke plume had reduced significantly but as contractors on site begin to excavate the plastic, the smoke plume may fluctuate in volume, and colour. Residents and drivers are advised to keep their windows and doors closed if they can see or smell smoke.

Crews remain in attendance monitoring and extinguishing hotspots and are expected to remain in attendance into the evening.

This incident has now been reduced to two fire engines and the high volume pump, firefighters are expected to remain in attendance monitoring and extinguishing remaining hotspots into this evening.
