At 05:54 on the 31st July 2024, ten fire engines from Preston, Bamber Bridge, Blackburn, Leyland, Chorley, Darwen, Nelson and Penwortham and the aerial ladder platforms from Preston and Hyndburn along with other specialist units attended a commercial building fire on Preston New Road, Samlesbury.
If you can see or smell smoke, please keep your windows and doors closed. Please avoid the area.
Our drone team are also attending this incident. Please do not fly drones as you will obstruct emergency operations.
Update 11am: The incident will be reduced to six fire engines and two aerial ladder platforms. Crews are expected to remain in attendance throughout today monitoring and extinguishing the fire.
Road closures remain in place and we are working closely with partner agencies to minimise the disruption to the local community. We would like to thank everyone for their support and patience with this on-going incident.
Update at 18:00: This incident has been reduced to four fire engines and an aerial ladder platform. Firefighters are using hose reel jets and thermal imaging cameras to monitor and extinguish hotspots. Thank you for your support and patience during this incident.
Update 08:30 on 1st August: This incident has been reduced to two fire engines, Crews remain in attendance monitoring and extinguishing hotspots.
