Have you ever wondered what it would be like to respond to emergencies, help save lives and make a real difference in your community?
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service is inviting local residents to find out more at a special on-call firefighter recruitment open day at Morecambe Community Fire Station on Sunday 25 October from 1pm to 4pm.
Whether you're actively looking for a new challenge or simply curious about the role, this is your opportunity to step inside the fire station, meet the crew and discover what life as an on-call firefighter is really like.
A role that fits around your life
On-call firefighters are everyday people who provide an extraordinary service to their communities. They come from all walks of life and often combine their firefighting role with other jobs, businesses, study or family commitments.
To become an on-call firefighter at Morecambe, you will need to live or work close enough to the station to respond within five minutes when called upon. In return, you'll receive specialist training, ongoing development and the opportunity to be part of a team that helps protect local communities when they need it most.
No previous firefighting experience is required. What matters most is commitment, enthusiasm and a desire to serve the community.
Get a real taste of the role
The recruitment open day has been designed to give visitors a hands-on insight into what being an on-call firefighter involves.
Throughout the afternoon, firefighters from Morecambe's on-call crew, supported by colleagues from Red Watch, will be running activities that mirror parts of the recruitment process and give attendees the chance to test themselves.
Visitors will be able to:

Meet serving on-call firefighters and hear about their experiences
Learn about the training, commitment and rewards of the role
Try practical activities including fitness-related challenges, bleep tests and equipment carries
