On-call firefighter applications now open
Do something different with your spare time. Join an on-call crew.
Applications are now open for on-call firefighters across Lancashire, and we’re calling on people from all walks of life to consider doing something different with their spare time.
On-call firefighters live or work within five to eight minutes of their local station and respond to incidents when needed, alongside a close-knit team. They balance this with other responsibilities – whether that’s a full-time job, running a business, or raising a family.
This is a role for those who want to develop new skills, earn extra income, and make a real difference in their community. In return, we offer flexibility around your existing commitments, first-class training, and the opportunity to gain experience that’s highly valued in any workplace.
You don’t need any prior qualifications – just a good level of fitness, the right attitude, and a commitment to training. On-call firefighters attend weekly drill nights, respond to emergencies, and support their communities through prevention and protection work.

Are over 18,
Live or work within five to eight minutes of an on-call station,
Have a good standard of fitness, eyesight and hearing (aided or unaided),
And want to give back to your community in a meaningful way,
