At 22:07 on the 30th July 2023, six fire engines from Chorley, Bamber Bridge, Leyland, Blackburn and Horwich (of Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service) and the aerial ladder platform from Preston are currently in attendance at a derelict building fire on George Street, Chorley. Firefighters are using two ground monitors and two hose reel jets.
If you can see or smell smoke, please keep your windows and doors closed. Please avoid the area.
The drone team is also in attendance, please do not fly drones nearby as you will obstruct emergency operations, thank you.
Update at 00:15: This incident has been reduced to five fire engines and the aerial ladder platform. Crews will remain in attendance throughout the night as firefighting operations continue. It is expected George Street will remain closed for some time, thank you for your understanding.
Update at 01:00 31/07/23: This incident has been reduced to three fire engines and the aerial ladder platform, firefighters continue to monitor and extinguish any hotspots.
Update at 07:00: One fire engine remains in attendance, firefighters are using a thermal imaging camera to monitor and extinguish any remaining hotspots. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
